I am getting a 'there is not enough memory/ capacity' message when trying to install the game. Download is impossible when its embedded memory lacks the space. Although it is formed with external/internal memory, the application cannot be stored in external memory. Videos, music, and comics, and some games are the space hogs. IPhone says not enough space to download update. 'cannot download not enough. The total space of my app is 10 MB, and after installation it will take less than 20 MB. In Galaxy Note I, while updating my app, it's saying 'Insufficient Storage Available', where there is 214 MB of free space in device memory (internal). It happens even trying to download a new app.
Why is my PS3 saying there is not enough space for a game, but there is plenty of space?
'One strange thing I've really been bothered for a week! Each time I downloaded a new game on my PS3, it keeps telling me that there is not enough free space on the system storage to install the downloaded game files. It drives me crazy now because there is plenty of space for the files. I've deleted a few GB since I saw the message at first, but it still says that I need to remove more. It's too hard to give up my old games to get the new. What should I do with the message 'not enough space in system storage PS3'? How can I make full use of the rest free space?'
Many PS3 users have ever received the message telling the storage is not enough to install games. However, there is space left to be used. Sounds unreasonable? Firstly, let's figure out why; then follow our guide to solve the problem with a few simple steps.
PS3 Digital Download Space Requirements
You need DOUBLE space, which means there should be twice the amount of room than the game file requires. For example, eight gigs for the download while 8 for the install. Thus, to successfully install the game, you'll need around 17-18 gigs of free space on the PS3 storage device. When installing a game or DLC, the original downloaded copy is kept in case something terrible happens during install. If something does, the install file will be corrupted while the original will be fine, not forcing you to re-download the entire file again. That's how the download system works.
How to Solve 'Not Enough Space in System Storage' in PS3
You can try the two methods below to solve not enough space in system storage in PS3 correctly.
Solution 1. Delete 'Game Data' Folder
Most Blu-ray games store some of their files in the PS3 Game Data Utility, which take up a considerable amount of disk space after a while. You can't just format PS3 since the formatting will erase all the data on it. Instead, you can safely delete any of the folders like game data to recover some space. The data will be reinstalled automatically from the Blu-ray disk the next time that you play the game.
Solution 2. Upgrade HDD
'Not enough space in system storage'...On an average, 6 out of 10 people who use PS3 to play games are likely to be informed of the insufficient storage to install games and some other types of files. Why not upgrade disk of PS3 to a larger one? It's the most recommended way to solve the problem. However, people feel hesitated because they don't want to lose the games and files saved on the old disk. Don't worry. EaseUS free partition manager can ease your worry by cloning old disk data to the new one.
How to upgrade hard disk drive while keeping the data on source disk with EaseUS Partition Master?
Note: The operation of migrating OS to SSD or HDD will delete and remove all existing partitions and data on your target disk. If you saved important data there, back up them to an external hard drive in advance.
Step 1: Run EaseUS Partition Master, select 'Migrate OS' from the top menu.
Step 2: Select the SSD or HDD as the destination disk and click 'Next'.
Warning: the data and partitions on the target disk will be deleted. Make sure that you've backed up important data in advance. If not, do it now.
Then click 'Migrate' and 'OK' to continue.
Step 3: Preview the layout of your target disk. You can also click the disk layout options to customize the layout of your target disk as you want. Then Click 'OK' to continue.
Step 4: A pending operation of migrating OS to SSD or HDD will be added. Click the 'Execute Operation' button and click 'Apply' to start migrating your OS to a new disk.
If there are some partitions on the destination disk, please confirm to delete the partitions and data on the destination disk. In order to proceed with the operation, you should either allow EaseUS Partition Master to delete all the partitions on the destination hard disk or click Back to choose another destination hard disk.
I've looked for a few different solutions but all of them involve rooting, or pre-rooted phones. Mine is not rooted (I'll do it if I have too, but I'm lazy.)
Basically, every time I try and update or download an app my phone says there's not enough space on the device, despite my 11GB on SD and 140MB internal, using the file manager.
Is there any solution that doesn't involve rooting?
(note: I tried dialing *#9900# and apparently it doesn't work because there isn't any signal. Guessing that means it won't work.)
I have an Alcatel One Touch Idol S, running 4.2.2 non-rooted.

Every Android device is different. It all comes down to how the internal storage is partitioned. Let's say your device has 8GB of RAM. Maybe 1GB is partitioned for system storage. This fills up fast. Most applications need at least a portion installed on the system storage. So even if you move the app to your SD card, or 'internal storage', some part of it will have to remain in the system storage. Plants Vs. Zombies, for instance, can be installed on the SD, but 50mb or so stays in the system.
For a start, you have to try to move as many apps as possible to the SD card. Whatever you cannot move will have to be uninstalled.

Settings > Apps > Google Play Store ... Click Uninstall Updates ... It will restore the factory version which works!
I had problems installing Skype on my Sony Experia E - 'Not enough space on device' - It seems there is a problem with the latest updates to Google Play Store, so I uninstalled them and that solved the problem. Skype did not load first time due to an error with the package file but I tried again and it worked fine. I hope it works for you too.
